Recently our Office Manager, Olivia, swapped her computer and keyboard for a hard hat, steel cap boots and high vis to visit our customers in Orange NSW.

At Gunsyn Hire, we are always looking at how we can improve or modify our caravans to suit the ever changing world of site requirements and needs. Of course, the best way to do this is to visit the site and talk to the people using the caravans. This allows us to see first hand how our caravans are being used and identify any areas of improvement we can make.

Millthorpe

First stop was the beautiful little country town of Millthorpe, where Keeden Contracting are hiring one of our Series 7 Mobile Site Caravans for a new subdivision. Site Supervisor, Arty, was very happy with the caravan, especially the reverse cycle air conditioner as it was a chilly 7°C outside!

Cadia Gold Mine

Next stop was Cadia Gold Mine. Cadia is one of Australia’s largest gold mining operations, owned by Newcrest Mining. The mine is located approximately 25kms from Orange and 250 kms west of Sydney.

The site comprises the Cadia East underground mine, one of the largest gold and copper deposits in the world. Cadia East commenced commercial production in January 2013 and uses the large-scale mining method known as panel caving.

Gunsyn Hire have several mobile site caravans on this massive site. Olivia was escorted to each one by Tailings Dam Project Engineer, Ray van Schie. It was great to see the caravans being used for what they are designed for.

The advantage of using mobile caravans on a site like this, is the landscape is forever changing, literally. Our customers can easily move the caravans to the next project with minimal effort and without the need for cranes.

Depending on the project site requirements, caravans can be used for an office and/or lunchroom. There is no need for additional power or port-a-loos, all our caravans come fitted with generators and toilets.
